    Focus on Upper Extremity Entrapment Syndromes

    This year's program is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for chiropractic specialists in neurology to join with chiropractic specialists in electrodiagnosis in order to gain practical clinical knowledge in regard to common disorders of the upper extremity. It will feature an in-depth look at entrapment neuropathies.

    TRACK ONE:

    The "Soup to Nuts" presentation on Saturday & Sunday begins with a discussion of the typical presentation of a patient with an upper extremity complaint.  The clinical evaluation, differential diagnosis of entrapment neuropathy, and variety of conservative management options will be considered. Class will be presented by Joseph S. Ferezy, DC, and will highlight his publication on electrodiagnostic changes before and after chiropractic management of carpal tunnel syndrome. Proper referral protocols will be discussed.

    J. Donald Dishman, DC will then discuss receiving a typical referral from a doctor regarding a patient with a suspected upper extremity entrapment neuropathy. He will discuss his approach to the clinical and electrodiagnostic evaluation, common electrodiagnostic findings and caveats, parameters for consideration of surgical consultation and personal referral protocols. 

    TBD, through the extensive use of high definition surgical video, upper extremity complaints will be reviewed.  Surgical anatomy of  the carpal, cubital and radial tunnels, and complete detail and demonstrate multiple modern surgical procedures for associated neuropathic disorders.  Presentation will be via a anatomical, surgical high definition video laboratory for common upper extremity tendonopathies and other common disorders.

    Gary R. Smith, DC will bring several "real world" cases from his vast catalog, in order to discuss the more exotic and unusual findings that may confound or alter an otherwise straight forward electrodiagnostic assessment. 

     The Sunday class will feature a "hands on" laboratory with Dr.'s Smith & Dishman coordinating an electrodiagnosis laboratory.  In this laboratory, neurologists and electro-diagnostician's will practice side-by-side utilizing provided electrodiagnostic equipment.  

    Other topics will include: Adjustments & Stroke, "Functional Neurology Evaluation", Neurodegeneration & Multiple Sclerosis, thermography, and an optional Dissection Anatomy Laboratory*

    The class offers a total of 20 CEU**.  

    The tuition INCLUDES a ticket to the Saturday evening banquet.  

    TRACK TWO:

    The state of Florida requires doctors of chiropractic to accrue 40 total hours of Continuing Education every two years. Of these hours, 13 are required to be in specific subject matter consisting of six (6) hours of study in Documentation, two (2) hours of study in Medical Errors, two (2) hours of study in Ethics and three (3) hours of study in Risk Management including two (2) hours of study in Florida Laws and Rules governing chiropractic practice.  This very popular program is taught by a very popular instructor, Dr. John D. Lockenour, who is able to make the entire program coherent and highly applicable to Florida practice.  

    Class provides all 13 Florida Required CEU**

    Your symposium folder will contain all slides as E-notes (also downloadable prior to the symposium). There will be an educational class track offered for electrodiagnosis & neurology and another track for all 13 required FL license renewal hours*.  

    The Friday Night Reception, and the Saturday Night Banquet will be held along side of "The Most Famous Beach in the World". Dr.’s J. Donald Dishman and Joseph S. Ferezy will host the Saturday Banquet & Awards Dinner.

Additional costs may apply. Due to classes offered simultaneously, a maximum of 19 CE Hours can be attained by any one participant.
